For our Last project of the year its been decided that we will run a medical camp in a rural village called Phulasi which is around 8-10 hours of hard driving from the capitol Kathmandu. Just two hours from the border of Tibet is a rural area with just small access to medical care. So a team of volunteer Doctors are going to be spending a couple of weeks holding the camp in the village in Mid Dec. The aim of this is to treat up to 1000 people who have been suffering from various ailments with a future plan to establish a small medical centre there offering the care needed in the community. Because the nearest medical hospital is a few hours away and the nearest properly equipped one is in Kathmandu.
The medicine will be provided free of cost after a kind donation from a Rotary club in the UK and the medical care is provided from our team of volunteer doctors. Over the course of two weeks the EHN team provided medical care for over 600 people and prescribed hundreds of pounds worth of medicine making this camp a success.
This is a fitting project to end 2014 for EHN having changed its name to Education & Health Nepal and aims to specialise in those two fields in the future. (with a small exception for tree planting etc)
